| Kalaheo, Hawaii — New Boomer Music Launches as "the record label for the Boomer Generation" Under business development since January 2005, New Boomer Music LLC officially opened its doors today as possibly the first and only indie label specifically targeting the Baby Boom Generation. "Back in my high school and college days, I enjoyed life as both a student and a rock musician. Then, in 1975, I joined 'the working class' in order to make enough money to allow me to pursue my musical dreams with the idea of working only a couple of years before going back to music," said Jerry Brocklehurst, Founder and President. "Somewhere along the way, I got sidetracked by the money and by raising a family. Now, 30+ years later, I am finally renewing my dream. The interesting thing is, as I looked around, I found many of my friends and peers doing the same thing. These are people who are vastly talented and yet have no real outlet for their music. Hence, New Boomer Music was born." As conceived, New Boomer Music is a gathering place for addressing two primary goals: 1) As a record label, it provides a means for talented Boomer artists to reach the Boomer audience who will appreciate their music, and 2) As a web site dedicated to "Boomer-friendly" music that can be defined as "classic rock, only new", it provides a one-stop shopping place for Boomers to find music in a style they like. Jerry continued, "After reading an April, 2003 article in Billboard Magazine titled '80 Million Customers with No Place to Go', I started noticing a lot of trends. It's facinating - almost all the music you hear in movies and in television ads is classic rock or at least 'classic rock' in style. And yet, it's extremely hard to find any new music in this style. Almost everyone out there is catering to today's youth - which is great and which I fully support and understand - but I think we need an outlet for us Boomers too. We're not dead yet, you know!" New Boomer Music is launching with two major releases that should appeal to Boomer audiences: "Kauai Live!" and "Inside Man". In addition, look to the Jerry's Pick's section of the NBM website for recommendations on music released on other labels that has broad Boomer appeal. So what's next for New Boomer Music? "To quote an old Boomer favorite: 'We've only just begun.'" concluded Jerry. "We'll be adding music samples to the site, digital downloads, and our own online store and Boomer merchandise. And, as we add artists to the label repertoire, we'll be showcasing them on Internet radio, compilation CDs, and through monthly subscription services. You can't believe the number of artists I already have in the pipeline that are interested in appearing on the New Boomer label!" |
